Zhou Lei

M.S. Student at The University of Tokyo (GSII / III), based in Tokyo.

I build software for thinking.

My goal is to create systems where AI becomes part of how people remember, learn, research, and make decisions.

My work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, human cognition, and product design.

I am interested in building tools that help people think more effectively, learn continuously, and work alongside intelligent systems.

I enjoy moving from research ideas to working products — designing both the technical systems behind them and the experiences that make them useful in everyday life.

Currently, my research explores multimodal AI and human-centered computing, particularly how signals such as voice and facial expressions can help computers better understand human states and behavior.

Focus

  • AI-native products and agent systems
  • Personal knowledge and memory systems
  • Local-first software
  • Multimodal human-AI interaction
  • Human-centered AI
  • Rapid prototyping from 0 → 1
  • Chinese · Japanese · English

Now

I am pursuing my M.S. at The University of Tokyo while exploring the future of AI-native software.

I am particularly interested in the space between research and product development — where new ideas become tools that people can actually use.
